AST 113: TELESCOPES AND TECHNIQUES

We will learn all about telescopes: how they work, how to use them, and how to find your way around the night sky. We will use the telescopes of the McConnell Roof-top Observatory and take celestial photographs using CCD cameras. We will learn about astronomical digital image processing and how astronomers discover the properties of astronomical objects by observing the light that comes from them. This class is designed for science and math majors.
